A Solemn Observance

Today was Maundy Thursday. Our church held a modified Tenebrae service. Our choir performed “Song of the Shadows” – particularly fitting since Tenebrae means shadows in Latin.

We all wore black to mark the solemnity of the occasion. No one spoke after the service until we were in our cars.

Earlier, in rehearsal:

Prepping for Maundy Thursday

The choir at Riverland Hills has been practicing for our Maundy Thursday service tomorrow at 7 p.m. We’re presenting a music-filled service titled “Song of the Shadows.”

We just finished our dress rehearsal.

Back to work….

… and learning yet more stuff! A full week of classroom training and I come home to a 2-hour class. This is fortunately an interesting WebSphere Content Management (WCM) prototype class, which builds on all the usability lessons I learned last week.

My poor back is paying the price for all this sitting. My chiropractor is gonna be rich.

Sick, sick, sick

After the excitement of the past week my body has decided to force me to slow down and recuperate. A sore throat and general tiredness have me in bed and gobbling Ricola drops.

It could be all the changes in temps. I flew home from the land of 42 degree highs to Columbia, where 55 degrees is considered cold. When I went to lunch yesterday with my friend Jill I didn’t wear a jacket, cause to me it was balmy! Bad idea.

Back to life as usual

After a week of sitting in class for 8 hours a day, then the enforced sitting on the flight home, I’m at the chiropractor. Here’s hoping she can do something about the kinks in my back.

So cool… Airports are learning usability

LaGuardia airport (or at least the Delta terminal) provides iPads for passengers to use while they’re waiting … In addition to charging stations near seats so people can recharge their iPhones, iPads, Kindles, what have you. Very nice!

On the way home

The wonderful bellman helped me with my luggage. The service at the Westin has been phenomenal.

Lunch and later

I subwayed back from the Park to the renowned Quikmeal cart on 45th and 6th. This food cart has been written up in the old Gourmet magazine. The lamb pita contained real chunks of lamb …. Not that fake gyro meat. It was delicious. After lunch I took a taxi (my first!) to the Guggenheim.
