Update April 2022: New name, new focus

In homage to my sweet youngest nephew, who is now in college, I’m changing the site name back to Aunt Gem. Just as with the name change to auntgem.com – I’m focusing now on my hobbies and not just any old odd and end that comes into my mind. Gardening, Baking (especially bread) Books – that’s what you can expect from Aunt Gem. And any other hobbies I pick up along the way. Sewing? Who knows? And here I am:

My youngest nephew couldn’t pronounce Jen when he was little. He called me “Gem.” Obviously the kid understands my true worth. My dear brother corrupted this lovely nickname into “Jim.” Now the family knows me as Aunt Jim.   

I’m a middle-aged maiden aunt living in SC with one cat, a demanding job and a few extra pounds to lose. I’m going to throw lots of odds and ends on this blog. My goal is to keep in touch with my nephews and niece.

Oh, and I‘ll have earned a Master’s degree in another month August 2010. I was finally be able to start hanging out with my friends again. Life is good!

Update, 2014: Now that so many of friends and family are in far-flung places, I’m not writing it just for my niece and nephews. This is also to keep in touch with those in Alabama, North Dakota, New York and Virginia. Has it really been since 2010 that I’ve had this? Wow…. so much time has gone by. And yet I still have a few extra pounds to lose. Funny, that.

Update, 2021: Wow. Just like that – the years go by. The last time I touched this blog was in 2016. Let’s see, what was going on that year that made me stop blogging? Hmm… what could it be? I’ve decided to speak out again. I hate social media sites so welcome to my little corner of the web. If I stick with it who knows what will happen this time.

Update, 2022: Back again! Let’s see how long I can keep this going, eh?
