Last night after work I picked up Pickles from the vet. Kitty had her dental appointment Tuesday. (It was her yearly cleaning, plus a tooth extraction. I know, I know: millions of Americans have no health insurance, but this cat: Health and dental! Hey, if I owned you, you’d have health and dental too.)
Apparently the vet did her cleaning late in the day because Pickles was still groggy from the anesthesia. It was worse than last year. The poor cat couldn’t stand up when she got home. She kept falling over to one side and turning in circles trying to get up. When she did half stand up she’d veer off to a side like a dizzy toddler coming off a merry-go-round. I was so worried I called the vet, who told me to leave her in her kennel for a couple of hours so she wouldn’t hurt herself. Around 8 p.m. I let her out to eat. Poor kitty couldn’t even eat in the kitchen. Her hind legs kept slipping on the linoleum floor. I had to put her bowl on the living room carpet.
This morning she was a little better. At least now she can walk on all four legs. But she wasn’t her usual self yet – she hasn’t meowed once since I brought her home.
Update, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday – she’s back to her usual self!

I had such plans for blogging a lot every day … and then life got in the way.

Did Aunt Jim say “if I owned you, you’d have health and dental, and I would drug you up so much that you couldn’t eat without falling down or even utter a meow”?

I’d save that special health plan for you, sweet Jimmy!

You mock my pain! I was considering legal recourse against the vet (which I probably signed away with the consent to treat) while poor kitty was staggering about.
