Series: What’s The Plan?
Lesson Title: God’s Power Strengthens
Date: Week of October 10
Lesson Passages: Ephesians 3:14-21
This passage contains one of the most beautiful benedictions in the Bible, Ephesians 3:20-21.
Through this scripture Paul’s shares his prayer for us. He prays that Christ will dwell at home in our hearts permanently and completely so that we may comprehend the fullness of His love for us. It is wide, long, high and deep.
As we open our heart to Him, the Holy Spirit will pour an unlimited supply of love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in us.
Questions:
- Paul’s prayer talks about how we have been given a full citizenship into heaven. How can we receive the same wonderful spiritual riches on earth?
- What does Paul mean when he says we should live to our potential in Christ every day?
- How do we know God loves us? What evidence can we share that will convince us of His love for us?
Revelation:
We go through life searching for satisfaction in empty places when all along God is trying to tell us that He desires to bless us with an indescribable wealth of spiritual blessings.
As we make time for spiritual exercise, our relationship with Christ matures and our insight and strength grows. Not only will God’s love provide comfort and sanctuary to us; but it will also inspire and strengthen us to engage in daily challenges, rather than flee from them.
Homework:
Until we actually accept and experience God’s love, no one can describe it to you. Watch for signs of God’s love for you in the details of your daily life. Write these moments down and thank God for them at the end of each week.
Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for taking the initiative to jump start our love relationship. I pray that each of us eagerly respond to your invitation. As we get closer to you through consistent prayer and in reading your word, reveal to us your supply of spiritual strength. Show us how to adjust our lives to you and your work. Amen
